Keep Your Car Beautiful. Polish It!

The best way to keep your car looking new and fresh is to wash and wax it regularly. You should try to wash your car at least once per month and to use some sort of car polish at least once every three to four months. Car washing prevents build-ups that will eventually ruin your car-bugs, salt build up, etc. Car polish or wax makes your car look shiny and protects it from fading.

Usually, I like to wash my car about once per week. I tend to save change in one of the compartments of my car and use the change I accumulate at the self-serve car wash. Most of the time, I like to wash the car once per week and wax it on Valentine’s Day, Memorial Day, and Labor Day. This definitely helps prevent corrosion and keeps my car look its best.

Waxing a car is actually pretty simple. Car polish, or wax, is applied as a thin, transparent layer over the paint. The car polish protects the paint job from the elements and masks minor flaws such as scratches. Car polish also seals the paint, making it less susceptible to corrosion. Begin waxing only after your have thoroughly washed and dried your car.

After drying the car, apply the car polish one section at a time to the car. You might want to test it on a section of the car that isn’t visible a few days before just to be absolutely certain that nothing bad will happen, for example, your paint rubbing off. I like to start at the top of the car and work down because there is a better chance of dirt being left on the bottom of the car. If you make that your last section, you won’t rub dirt all over the entire car-it will be concentrated to that one area.

Once you have completed the application process, buff your car to a nice shine using a soft, clean towel. I prefer to buy a towel to use specifically for this process, but an old house towel will do the job as long as it’s clean and soft.

So there you have it-the easiest way to keep your car looking as good as the day you brought it home. Keeping your car doesn’t take long, and can be fun!

Using car wax on your car will keep it looking good and protect your investment. Car wax will also make your car stay cleaner longer and make it really easy to wash it. The dirt and bugs will not stick to your car very easily when it has a good coat of car wax on it.

Applying car wax is very easy and you can do it at home. Some people use car wax on their car very often, others will use it about every six months and others will wait and wax it yearly.

In the past few years, most new cars come with a clear coat of transparent protective top coat. Does this eliminate the need to use car wax on your car? While car wax probably won’t improve the shine of the clear top coat, environmental factors such as rain, sunlight, and road debris will eat at the finish of a car. After washing your car, adding a coat of car wax can help protect the paint on your car against environmental factors.

There are different kinds of car waxes. These include liquid, paste, and the spray on, wipe off types.
